Tariffs x SCOTUS
by Alex King, CEO, Cestrian Capital Research, Inc
Yesterday evening, the Administration’s decision to impose tariffs based on emergency powers (without which citation, Congress would be the deciding entity) was challenged by the US Trade Court and found wanting. Equity futures are in direct ascent to the moon at present. The decision will, I expect, be challenged at the Supreme Court level so for now this is just a knee-jerk reaction to where trade policy might settle - so personally I think this post- and pre-market move is to be filed under “Interesting If True”.
Let’s see where markets stand. But before we do so, you might take a moment to watch this video, which deals with the oh-so-exciting topic of how to use three different methods of research - fundamental, technical and quantitative - to improve your trading and investing outcomes.
